Cast Iron Clawfoot Bathtub Styles

Cast Iron Clawfoot Bathtubs have offered the same vintage styles since their beginning. Often Called Cast Iron Claw Tubs, these classic bathtubs come in rolled rim and slipper tub styles (and other designs too). Over the years, clawfoot tub styles have changed dramatically. Our vintage-style cast iron clawfoot tubs are efficiently functional and designed with high style to be the focal point of the room. The richness of cast iron is appealing and much sought after today.

Ceramic Clawfoot Tub

Cast iron clawfoot bathtubs are available in unique styles which are appealing in different ways. The first style is called a rolled rim design. These tubs are the same height from front to back. One end of the tub is designed to allow a person to recline while the other end is squared and where the faucet should be placed. This style may require a bathtub-wall mount faucet, a deck mount, or if there are no faucet holes, a freestanding faucet, or a bathroom wall-mount faucet. Each style has its own appeal. Space within the bathroom and the positioning of the in-home water supply will help you determine which of these faucet styles will work best.

5 Foot Cast Iron Clawfoot Tub

Some classic clawfoot bathtubs have a dual-ended clawfoot tub design. With this style, both ends of the tub slope out and are designed to allow a person to recline at either end of the tub. They may have the same classic rolled rim style, but with this style, the faucet is positioned in the middle of the tub. Once again, you may opt for a faucet that is mounted on the rim of the bathtub, a freestanding, or a bathroom wall-mount faucet.

To date, the most popular style of clawfoot tub is the slipper style. Slipper clawfoot tubs are a unique style which is unequaled in the bathtub industry. One end of the tub sweeps up above the foot of the tub to create a design that looks like a slipper when viewed from the side. This elegant design provides unbelievable support of the head and back while bathing and it enhances the ability to relax and unwind. Slipper tubs are available in numerous sizes. The low end of the slipper tub is where the faucet is positioned and most styles of faucets are acceptable with this style.

The final style of cast iron clawfoot tubs we offer is the Double Ended Slipper Clawfoot Tub. These tubs are very spacious and often have enough room for two people to bathe at the same time. A faucet is positioned in the middle of the tub so the flow of water does not interfere with the relaxation of those bathing. Double slippers are characterized by both ends sweeping up. Because of their size, double slipper tubs are very heavy. Be sure to have several people available to move the tub when you are ready to install it.

Customizing a Cast Iron Bathtub

Our most requested service to customize a cast-iron bathtub is painting a specific color. For years bathtubs came in only white. With the advancement of new paints and pigments, your new tub can now be customized the way you have always wanted. The most requested colors are black, red, and shades of green. We can also customize the bathtub with a faux copper-bronze finish which is extremely popular with many of our customers.

If you want to own a lightweight bathtub that looks very similar to cast iron models, check out our selection of Acrylic Clawfoot Tubs. They are very durable, are available in all styles, including Double Ended Clawfoot Bathtubs, and they are sure to enhance the look of your home

Clawfoot and Plumbing Finishes

You may choose a finish for both the clawfeet and plumbing fixtures. For decades, polished chrome was the faucet finish available. Today, chrome is still very popular with homeowners, but there are other finishes that are popular. Brushed nickel is less shiny, hides fingerprints and water spots, and adds a touch of sophistication. Oil rubbed bronze is a dark bronze and has grown considerably in popularity recently. For the clawfeet glossy black, matte black, and white are also available as well as chrome, brushed nickel, and oil rubbed bronze.

The supply lines and the drain with overflow are available in the above-mentioned finishes. This will enable you to create the look you want in your home!
